What is a Video Card?

A video card is an interactive card that when a QR Code is generated and inserted onto the card, it pulls up a video, text or other media message to be viewed on a smart phone. SendOutCards will only be integrating URL’s connected to videos at this time.

What is a QR Code?

An interactive code that when scanned by a QR Reader pulls up a URL, video, text or other media message. SendOutCards will only be integrating URLs connected to videos at this time.

How Do I Create a Video Card?
In the Card Editor, simply select “Pics” then “Upload More Pictures.” Under the words “QR Code Generator” select the box next to “YouTube URL” and paste your URL. Note that the URL must include www.youtube.com to be accepted. Once the URL is pasted, select “Generate!” Your new QR Code will be shown in the top left corner of the pics box.

What does a QR code look like?

QR codes are box-shaped barcodes. Some advanced QR codes can include photos and different colors. At SendOutCards, the industry standard black and white QR codes will be used.

What do I do with a QR code?

Scan the code with a QR reader app on your Smartphone. Using the camera on your phone, simply hover over the code until it is completely visible on our screen. Most QR Readers will automatically take a picture, which will generate a link or take you to your message.

Do I need a QR Reader
Very few barcode scanners will read QR Codes. It is recommended to aquire a QR Reader.

What if my recipient does not know what a QR code is or how to use it?

Every QR Code will have a URL attached below to type into your web browser. In addition, there are instructional elements created specifically for the QR Codes located in the Card Editor.

IS SendOutCards going to provide a QR Reader app?

We will not be providing a QR Reader app – only recommending one. There are several free QR Reader apps and several that require you to pay a small fee. The following apps are recommended: iNigma (free for iPhone). QR Droid (free for Android) and QuickMark ($0.99 for iPhone and Andriod).

What URL’s can I use to generate a QR Code?

Only URL’s from YouTube may be used to generate a QR Code in the Card Editor.

How much does it cost to create a Video Card?
Adding a photo, template, element or QR Code costs one additional point.

Can I save my QR Codes and use them in multiple Video Cards?

Yes, your QR Codes will be store along with your pictures and can be dragged/dropped into any card the same way you would a photo.

Can I make any card a Video Card?

Yes, you can add a QR Code to a postcard, 2-panel, 3-panel or BIG card. Please use caution when placing QR Codes on postcards. They are unprotected mail subject to postal machinery, which could cause damage to the card and cause the QR Code to not read properly.

What are the SendOutCards Compliance Guidelines regarding Video Cards?

Video cards and QR Codes will be held to the same compliance standards as all cards, graphics and images. For more information please refer to Policy 4.32

Where can I place the QR Code in my Video Card?

QR Codes can be placed in a card just like a photo, template or element. However, QR Codes should not have anything overlapping them – this will make the code unreadable. If it is outside the trip area, it will also get cut off and the QR code can not be scanned properly.

Will I be able to resize the QR Code?

Yes, you can resize, rotate and move the QR Code. There will be an alert if your QR Code is sized too large.

Will we see any future changes or enhancements for Video Cards?
Based on the popularity and success of this product, future additions and enhancements may be added to this technology.

How to Sign up for a YouTube AccountTo sign up for YouTube, go to the Sign Up page, choose a username and password, and enter your information. Review the Google Terms of Service and YouTube Terms Use, then click I accept.

 

  1. If you already have a Google Account associated with the email address you entered, a YouTube/Google sign-in page will load with the Email field pre-populated. Verify that this is the Google Account you’d like to add YouTube to, enter your password, and click Sign in to add YouTube to your Google Account. If you’d like to use a different Google Account, delete the contents of the pre-populated Email field and enter the email address associated with the Google Account you’d like to add YouTube to.
  2. If you don’t have a Google Account, a YouTube/Google Account creation page will load with the Email field pre-populated. Verify that this is the email address you’d like to use for your new Google Account, choose a password, enter the verification code, and click Create my new account! You should receive a confirmation email within a few minutes. Follow the directions in the email to confirm your account. We also have additional resources that explain how to verify account sign up.

We recommend adding extra numbers or letters to the end or the beginning of your desired username. Don’t use special characters or spaces. Make sure to enter the verification code (CAPTCHA) exactly, and note that the code expires after two minutes. If you receive a message stating that you’re ineligible to register for YouTube.com, please review our Terms of Use for information on account eligibility.

How to Upload a Video:

  1. Click the Upload link at the top of any YouTube page.
  2. Click the Upload video button to browse for the video file you’d like to upload to our site. Select the file you want to upload and click Open.
  3. As the video file is uploading, enter as much information about your video as possible in the relevant fields (including Title, Description, Tags, and Category). You’re not required to provide specific information, but the more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your video!
  4. Click the Save changes button to save the updates you’ve made to the video file.
